So. Now that I'm "done" with the game I will lay out the good and the bad about this game
1. Story. Using Jon Bernthal for the "main" bad guy was a good move. It brought hype and probably a few pre-orders. However I can understand why Greedysoft would go the route of reverse Wildlands. What I mean by that is in Wildlands you had to kill of the secondary honchos or w/e they were called to get to El Sueno. Here, you can just run right up to Walker and kill him and then deal with the secondary villains... How underused Walker was and how sloppy and stale the story was is a huge disappointment for me. Why bring in a Hollywood actor just to use him for like 3 cutscenes... When Walker died I had no interest left in the story and just skiped every dialouge I could. The missions were all the same, nothing interesting.
The sidemissions were also forgettable since they all were the same mission. The only mission I even remember was the nuke mission. That's how bland this games story is. In Wildlands the main story and were atleast sometimes somewhat interesting.
2. Gearing and gearscore. For those of you who resides in this sub-forum, you have probably seen me rant from time to time. I can not say a single positive thing about the gearscore, nothing. I see no point what so ever in having it in this game. Sure you technically do get stronger the higher gearscore you get but since the world level up with you I see no point in it.
I admit, I did not streamline my gear grind. I did not farm the right camps/missions all the time. I did main missions and side missions as they came. That was fine up to like 180. I was getting upgrades organically. After that I hit a wall. So looked up a guide on how to get higher gearscore and started camp the same behemoth drone for days from 180 to about 240. Then I tried farming 250 camps but that was slow AF. For the last 4 days I've been farming the elite faction mission and that's how I got to 252.
Here's where Greedysoft f**ked up. Why bother create a whole island with camps, caves, abandoned buildings and so on if none of them matter. By 150 I noticed that the world drop would not give me upgrades and only the camps would and so on. And by 180 there were like only a few places that would give me and upgrade. Greedysoft literally made 95% of the island obsolete. There is no point in exploring. There is no poin in visiting areas that you havn't been to because none of them will yield and form of reward. Maybe a collectible here and there but nothing else.
So, now that I hit 252 that means I'm done right? Nah son. Now the real endgame begins. Praying to RNJesus that you get the two perks you want on a yellow piece of gear by doing the same elite faction mission over and over and over again. For the weapons the endageme is the weapons on demand tab in the shop. I calculated that the Stoner had the highest DPS of all the LMGs so I wanted a Stoner for killing drones. The perks I want for a drone killer LMG is drone dmg, obviously and I wanted reload speed. However after buying 59 Stoners I gave up when I got one with drone dmg and accuracy. I didn't even get the perks I wanted since Greedysoft couldn't think that having perks on guns and no way to re-roll them is a massive cöck-up. FFS, The Divison have perk re-rolls, why can't we? Now I just need to do the same thing trying to get 3 more guns with the two perks I want AND I gotta sell all of the guns one by one since appearently no one at Greedysoft playtested this game beyond the first part of the map or beyond gs 150... FU*K THIS GAME. WHO THOUGHT THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA???? Score for gearing and gearscore. 3/10
3. Faction missions and Battle pass. I'm gonna start and say. If there is anyone out there who havn't hit 49 yet and want to know if there is anything beyond that. No. It ends at 49. So if there is nothing in the rewards you want don't bother. Imo the guns were meh, the camos were meh. I don't even know why there are knives in this game since they don't show up on your character and you barely see them in the melee takedown. Score for the battle pass. 1/10
4. Gameplay. Here is the only good thing about GRB. The moment to moment gameplay and combat is somewhat solid. The half-a**ed RPG mechanics doens't bother me too much when in combat since you barely notice them. One gripe that I still have since Wildlands is the grips and so on. Why are there like 3 or 5 different grips for each gun? Why can't Greedysoft just make one or two. Flush the damn arcade shooter stats on attachments down the toilet. Make the guns and attatchments act like they do in real life or somewhat life-like. From what I've read and seen on vids and so on you can literally get a muzzle brake that overcompensate and drives the recoil down in the ground. Why does the flash hider reduce shot spread? Who does a grip increase the range of a gun or reduce the reload time? Things like this makes no sense...
The drones. FU*k the drones. Who thought people would enjoy the drones? I can live with the backpack drone and the police drones but the flying ones with LMGs and the car drones makes stealth such a hassle or just impossible. They are not fun. They are the complete opposite of this games DNA. They are plucked right out of The Division.
Score for Gameplay. 5/10
I'm sure there are thing I forgot here but I think you get the idea. I did not review the PvP since I've only played about 1 hour of it. I did not enjoy it that much and I did not buy this game for the PvP. I know there is one guy who think forcing people to play PvP is the salvation of this game but that's just stupid.
Overall score for this game. 3/10
