[PS3] PS3 - Splinter Cell Blacklist causing system to lag/corrupts HDD

PS3 was working perfectly until my purchase of Blacklist.

After installing and playing the game I noticed several problems:

• Terrible Audio synch issues.
• Ridiculously long load times.
• Cut scenes AND gameplay lag (Offline) - game during load/save and general play will freeze for a few seconds then go back to normal. Does this every 5-10 seconds. Is basically unplayable.

Coincidentally, since these issues, the rest of my PS3 began to suffer. LOOOOONG start up times, other games not working correctly, whole system completely lagging.

I backed up all my saves and proceeded to wipe the HDD. I then went into safe mode and rebuilt the PS3 database and restore file system - on doing the later, the PS3 told me my HDD was corrupt. Once 'fixed' I restarted the PS3 and it worked perfectly, start up was fine, Icon display was fine etc - I loaded up a game which worked perfectly........

.......I decided to re-install Blacklist and lo and behold my system bombed again. Splinter Cell was lagging, which once again caused my entire PS3 to bug out - on trying the previous game that had worked perfectly, it too now lagged and was almost unplayable.

Does anyone have an explanation for this? My PS3 worked fine without Splinter Cell installed. Is it somehow corrupting the HDD???
