my name is Roland, I am a long-time MM fan and also a sound designer working mostly for indie devs (for example, on Legends of Aethereus: http://www.aethereusgame.com/index.html)
I tried searching for this specific topic , but did not find anything yet. Here is a bit of feedback/wishes I came up with while playing.
- first and foremost, thank you for reviving MM.
- Love the turn based / step gameplay. It is courageous to pull this off today but like you said, it is a specific gameplay mechanic and whoever wants 3d movement just does not get that. However, I would love to speed up things a bit . Any chance we get to skip transitions while walking forward? I feel the walking transitions are slowing my progress - one of the best things with MM3-5 (my favourites) was being able to zoom right through the level to reach whatever I wanted to access. At that time it was due to technical limitations, but I see this rather as a feature. Should be relatively easy to program , too.
- I really like the combat. It feels very complete even at this stage of development.
- wonderful character portraits, nice with party shouts. Any chance of ,ore of that (flirting, taunting, joking, ...?)
- Enough with the sighing, throat clearing and coughing already - Half of Sorpigal seems to have caught a cold ;) Maybe you could make these sounds a bit more sparse and add some conversation bits between the NPCs. But I am guessing this is due to the early version of the game.
