[Feedback] Sorpigal NPC Interactions

Preface: First of all... I'm sorry about this wall of text. Hopefully formatting helps a little.

One thing I immediately noticed is that 1. Everything is extremely well written, and 2. Starting conversations with NPCs seemed pretty artifical, which did not sync up well with how well written it all is! For example, I barge in on an NPC, they ask me what I want, and start asking them about becoming a Paladin? How did we get there from my home party's sudden home invasion?

General Suggestions:

1. Move the first line of dialogue down beneath the name a little they seem to overlap a bit, even when not bugged.
2. Changing from windowed to full screen makes the body text move upwards and overlap with the NPC's name. (Will Bug).
3. Alt + Tabbing into another window and then clicking back on the game will sometimes advance dialogue, no matter where you click. This only works when 'continue' is a dialogue option. (Will Bug)
4. Disable the ability to end dialogue early while being given a quests' flavor text / details.
5. Have Dialogue Trees that begin with an introduction, question, or observation, and which leads to the Gossip / Quest / etc options. More Flavor!
6. Make the 'Gossip:' text choice stand out, by making it only for quest / storyline leads.

An Example of some of the above. The NPC Eileen is found in Sorpigal. Currently, you enter her house, she asks you 'Yes? what you want?" Which is the same as all the other people's home intro lines, and you're offered two choices to question her about 'Gossip: Becoming a Paladin' and 'Gossip: Crusaders'.

I suggest an alternative such as...

Eileen: "What do you want? Speak quickly, for while some <Crusaders> suffer the presence of fools... I do not."

1. Crusaders?

Eileen: "When my husband was killed and my sons stolen from me, I thought of taking my own life... <Current Dialogue>.

1. Gossip: Becoming a Paladin.

Eileen: "<Current Dialogue>".

I feel this change in flow and dialogue makes the Gossip text option stand out more as it may need to be 'found' in a sense and tells me that I've discovered some important information that I should remember. Now if the above text fits the character's personality, I dunno seems to fit, but you guys and gals are the experts on that.

-----------------------------

So without further ado, here's some suggestions I have for the other NPCs in Sorpigal. I'll update as needed.

----- Dunstan -----

Dunstan's Sorpigal Narrative: PLEASE add the option to question Dunstan more on what he says. Like when he mentions Unicorn Armies, and I'm thinking - cool! What are those? Then... nadda. This would be a great point to draw me more into the game's lore.

Dunstan @ Alchemist
- More lore dialogue options.

Dunstan @ Chapel of Elrath:
- Great spot for Dragon Lore and his feelings regarding the church!

Dunstan @ Town Garrison Barracks:
- Maybe have Dunstan strongly encourage the player to tour the rest of the town first before entering.

Dunstan @ Weaponsmith Caldwell:
- He mentions the Unicorn Armies. Dialogue option to inquire more about them.

Dunstan @ Goblin Watchtower Inn:
- Perhaps a dialogue alluding to the inn's interesting name and history, but encouraging the player to ask the Innkeeper about it more or perhaps encouraging the player to eat the food and then meet the chef.

Dunstan @ Central Town Garrison:
- When you reach this Town Garrison at the center of town, have Dunstan also identify that this isn't the place you want to be, and that your target is near the harbor.

Dunstan @ Arcane Library:
- Good point to learn more about the Seven Cities and Karthal from Dunstan.
- Offence or Offense? Are we using U.K. or U.S. spelling?

----- End Dunstan -----

Aiolos:
- New Intro Line: "Need Something? Take my word for it. Your strength and your wits are all you can depend upon these days." <Something like this would lead nicely into the skills he offers and his 'End of Times' attitude.>
- Change, Gossip: The End of the Holy Empire? to " What do you mean, these days?"

----- Arcane Library -----

Faris:
- New Intro Line: Have his intro line end with something like "While my collection pales in comparison to the land's <Great Libaries> you may discover some tidbit of knowledge". Which opens up Gossip: Great Libraries.
- I'd like to learn more about Faris' history, which could lead to unlocking 'Training: Arcane Discipline Expert'.

Shihab
- This guy's training lead-in is perfect.
- Would like to learn more lore about Shihab and Al-Safir. Maybe he can even refuse to talk about them, if they're secret?

----- Arcane Library End -----

Bear's Home:
- New Intro Line: Something like... "Ho there! By the looks of you I'm guessing you're <adventurers>?
- Gossip: Adventure >>> Leads to a tale about how good he was at enduring things and dodging things. Maybe a long-winded tale, which you can exit from early. However, if you listen to the end, he offers to train your heroes in dodge and endurance.

Caldwell's Shop:
- Change 'Gossip: Veteran' to "Hail Blacksmith! Those scars you bear, surely they came from no anvil or forge..." >>> which leads to his natural dialogue regarding not always being a weaponsmith. At the end of which perhaps he offers to teach you a thing or two about warfare.

Catrina:
- New Intro Line: Perhaps something line.. "Hello there travelers! While times may be tough, have faith in our Empress and her reforms! Just as Maximus will find the missing persons and bring peace to this town, so too will the Emperess bring peace to our land."

----- Chapel of Elrath -----

Sister Lisandre:
- I really like this NPC.Nice Work!

Rosalie:
- New Dialogue Option: Tell me about yourself.... > Rosalie's Story.
- Rosalie is searching for her parents... which has lead her here? However this place is in turmoil which is revealed and leads us to...
- Gossip: The New Governor... which then unlocks Quest: The Highwayman

----- Chapel of Elrath End-----

----- Goblin Watchtower Inn -----

Oscar:
- Change Gossip: Goblin Watchtower
- There is a 'back' option on the second screen of the Gossip: Goblinwatch Tower page. I don't think it should be there.

Jassad:
- New Intro Line: Have Jassad introduce himself in a more flamboyant manner? He seems to be the flamboyant type :).
- Have Jassad's introduction include mention of <Chronicling the Local Wildlife> which unlocks the Quest option.

Kengi:
- I really like the Kengi / Oscar interaction when hiring Kengi.
- Maybe only make hiring Kengi an option after learning about Kengi in the Gossip: Kengi option from Oscar? Afterall, why would you hire a goblin chef on a whim?
- A dialogue option exploring this 'great baby teeth' comment from Kengi.

----- Goblin Watchtower Inn End -----

Eileen's Home:
- See Suggestion at top of post.
- Have the 'Gossip: Becoming a Paladin' text option unlock after your talk to her about Crusaders.
- There is a ?teen? in Eileen's home. Yet her dialogue indicates that her sons were stolen from her. I imagine the house interiors will become more customized in future builds, but I felt it worth mentioning.

Esetvo:
- New Intro Line: "Ebrahim, <the wizard>. He's just one more example of the chaos that's followed these foolish <reforms>!"

Harbor Gate City Guard
- Looks Good! (Maybe he could emphasize that Maximus is right past the Harbor gate)

City Exit City Guard:
- Looks Good!

Isaak:
- Awesome NPC.
- Please make <2. Exit> an option, I got stuck in a loop of terrible jokes.

Johara:
- Great intro line.
- Change: Gossip: House Materia to something like "Tell me about yourself..."

Orlene:
- Need an option to say no to the Flowers for Fallen Heroes Quest.
- Need a logical connection for the Gossip: Options.

Sir Christian:
-Change: 'Gossip: From Knight to Privateer' to Are you a Knight or a Privateer? (Maybe he even gets a little defensive about this)

Zale:
- Love the lore that this guy hints at.
- Make <Quest: Smuggler's Cove> unlock after talking about Sorpigal-by-the-Sea. When Zale says nothing much happens here now, maybe he can slip in that this place used to be much more active...

Oh well, these are just some suggestions. Don't mind my terrible writing, you guys and gals can do it much better. However, I think the logical flow I'm suggesting will make Sorpigal a more colorful place :) Or is it colourful?
