Why does Briggs talk to himself?

I was watching my cousin play Splinter Cell Blacklist and during the 1st person section Briggs talks to himself by repeating the orders.

He could just trying to boost himself on but could it be something deeper?
I also noticed he and Charlie act like kids,
Thoughts?
