I have the sad fortune of being both a mac user and HOMM lover. I am looking for some help, after being redirected here by Ubisoft, who could not help me further because of liability reasons.
My problem is this: HOMM V runs well on my computer, but does not load saved games. (It sounds like windows users have had similar problems, but the fixes on offer for those problems don't seem applicable to me.) Instead of loading games, it quits during the loading screen. I hear this also is related to graphics card problems, but I have to wonder if that is the source given 1) the lack of other graphics related problems and 2) what I will discuss below: the more obvious problem.
So now I must admit my ravenous desire to get back into the HOMM world led me to hastily purchase HOMMV from macgamestore without making sure I had compatible specs. I know: I am an idiot. The game is only officially compatible with OS 10.5, but I run 10.6.8. See below for some more detailed specs for the comp I am running.
What I am wondering is if anyone out there might be able to help me tweak HOMMV to get it to work on 10.6.8. The Ubisoft support I received suggested this might be possible. I would be so grateful to anyone who can offer any assistance...or even sympathy! As I said, the game really works just fine, except for the load game problem.
(One final note: some save/load problems seem to be related to user permissions. I have changed my permissions on the "saves" file to read/write for all users, and this has not fixed the problem.)

Processor: 2.8 GHz intel core 2 Duo
Memory: 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT (VRAM: 512 MB)...if more graphics related info would be helpful, let me know-- I'm not sure exactly what's relevant.
