I have finally decided to take the plunge and have taken Ubisoft's advice and upgraded to Windows 7 (Pro) so that cost me £180. The game cost me £34.99 but that didn't worry me because I though "ahh well, at least I can play it now".
Er......no. I can't.
I keep getting an error message saying "Future Soldier.exe has stopped working" even after restarts, safe mode, everything.
Having trailed around the forums, I have discovered that a few other people are experiencing the same problem. They are all told by the forum moderators to contact Tech Support. Fair enough if it's one person's game, but it's quite a few people with the same problem.
Ubisoft, I have now spent a grand total of £214.99 trying to get this game to work. It has been out 5 months. People all over the world are experiencing the same problems. Your patches (when they arrive) make no difference whatsoever, and the players using the worlds most popular operating system, still haven't even had a chance to start the game yet.
At least have the common sense to post solutions to the problems on the forums, rather than us having to contact tech support. As a consumer, I find your customer service absolutely shocking. If it wasn't for Assassin's Creed 3 coming out in Autumn, I would never touch your company again with a bargepole. For crying out loud sort it out!
You are treading a very fine line here, you have other commitments with other games, and the recession, and the fact that most of your staff are probably getting laid off as I type, but that has never been an excuse, that isn't an excuse, and that will never ever be an excuse for shoddy customer service.
Is it also not a shame that I can predict three possible outcomes for this thread?
a) I get banned from the forums because free-speech has suddenly become illegal on this website.
b) I get a "Please contact customer service, the link is in my signature" post as usual.
c) This thread is closed and anyone visiting get's redirected to a page where the propaganda of the Ubisoft organisation is tightly controlled.
What has become of the helpful, great organisation that once dominated the gaming world??? :(
