Shadow Fox is on the Left Side of the Whiteboard!

Hey guys, this is Chris (ou8124me360) who attended Ubisoft's incredible Community Event in Toronto last week.

Shadow Fox mentioned me in his article: Why Everyone Should Be Excited About Blacklist...

====================
"
As they spoke, you could tell they were fully aware of the polarization the last game had created in the fan-base. That polarization was even evident in the Q&A session when Ou123me360 took his question as an opportunity to tell them they had created a masterpiece with Conviction, particularly the co-op - and that people like myself just needed to look for the stealth.

That moment contrasted one side of the fan-base with another, as Max told the story about how he put my name on a whiteboard when they first got to Toronto to represent the hardcore legacy fans."
====================

I would like to explain and show you guys exactly why I feel so passionate about Conviction and do believe it is a Masterpiece.

I am one of the most hardcore Stealth Purist out there since Day 1 of the original and my specialty is ghosting using no gadgets, goggles, marking, or distractions of any kind - a true purist in the strictest form. We may have polarizing views on Conviction, hower, I represent the hardcore legacy fan as well - it is just that I learned to adapt my ghosting skills to the gameplay - for example, mastering "Line of Sight".

The opportunities for stealth in Conviction (Story and Deniable Ops) are most certainly there – Deniable Ops has the old school feel to it and I have ghosted every single map to the back before touching the guards in Hunter Mode using very strict rules - you can find many examples of these on my channel listed below.

I guess what has always puzzled me is why so many fellow old school stealth players would criticize Conviction just because of the new features it added. Just because a car has a Navigation system and it shows it in a commercial doesn’t mean you have to use it if you prefer your paper tri-fold.

I have played the entire Campaign on Realistic using no goggles, gadgets, marking, or bullets any only used Stealth Hand Takedowns only when necessary and mostly Evade tactics. Nothing in Chaos Theory was more brutal (or more rewarding) than completing this challenge – and I have 100% CT three times with all 0 stats on the Bath House level!

Feel free to check out my You Tube Channel to look at many Stealth Purist Runs:

I would encourage anyone who is truly a hardcore stealth purist to try the Ultimate Stealth Challenge or for a more chaotic time, try out the Hardest Campaign Level on Realistic without any assists and say it is an Easy game.

The variety this game brings is ridiculous with the genius Deniable Ops – check out the Coop Ghost Purist video to see how we mark the guards mentally instead of on the screen – that is true team work.

So my question to Shadow Fox is – how was Conviction not old school stealth at its best – I agree it did require much creative thinking and the stealth mechanics no longer consisted only with light and shadows like the other titles, however, it did raise my ghosting skills to a whole new level– in fact – ghosting the CIA Safehouse (Daylight) level with no assists, distractions or takedowns was my favorite level by far!

Before answering the question though, please view at least the first two videos on my You Tube Channel so you can see Splinter Cell Conviction through my eyes and why it was a triumph and not a step backwards.

One thing I do agree with Shadow Fox on – after playing Blacklist, it has a good chance of being the best installment in the series if the whole game is like what I experience that afternoon. After spending well over 800 hours in Conviction, that is a tall order to fill and time will tell – can’t wait to find out.

I really do want this topic discussion to stay friendly – my goal was to enlighten and share why I feel as passionate as I do about Conviction and show you how this title requires so much creative thinking and high skill level to master the ghost purist style.
