Important mechanics lacking, but people complain about holstering weapons?

Hello guys,

I have been observing the Blacklist forum for some time now and I keep coming back several times a week to check on the news about new gameplay footage, announcements and everything concerning Blacklist. I also read a lot of threads already regarding controversial topics about the game people do not like or which they worry about.

I saw the thread which was started recently about the absence of weapon holstering and I seriously cannot see why people are talking so much about this instead of other gameplay decisions which seem a lot more annoying to me than holstering a gun which is only cosmetic.

Right now there are several other things which come to my mind immediately that I am more concerned about than weapon holstering.
I am gonna list a few things which popped up in my mind when I think for only 1 minute:

1. No free jumping mechanic (only where you are supposed to be)
2. CO-OP still a downgrade from Chaos Theory (less CO-OP moves, but seems better than conviction)
3. Cannot carry bodies while crouching? (needs confirmation)
4. No OCP to temporarily deactivate lights? (saw the thing shot by the crossbow in the abilities trailer -> is that a kind of OCP?)

I wanna explain a bit about my thoughts behind these points:

1. I just find this stupid in the first place (several games do that nowadays and it is annoying everytime) because it just seems like a pointless limitation to me. It actually makes sense from a development perspective I think, it is probably easier to program if you only have certain objects to jump over or jump up a wall or something. But on the other side it breaks the immersion a lot for me. Especially in a game like SC. They also wanna create a more fluid gameplay and all the stuff they said, but this kinda does the opposite for me. It just pulls me out of the immersion.

2. I really, really enjoyed Chaos Theory CO-OP soooo much. I still play it today sometimes with a buddy if he is available for playing. I still feel sad that in all those years since 2005 there has never been a game like that creating that same atmosphere and vibe for me when playing with a friend. There are a lot of good games out there but often CO-OP just feels tacked on to the games. I did not play Conviction CO-OP with him, but I did play it with random guys on the internet. I told him not to buy it because it ran bad performance wise for me and I was kinda turned off by it, when looking back. I hoped Blacklist would bring back this gameplay feel from Chaos Theory for me. From some reports here on the forum from the guys who got to play it, it did not seem that there are the amount of interactivity/movesets like in Chaos Theory. Conviction was very basic and had literally no CO-OP moves beside the breaching and emp deactivation (no I do not count M & E CO-OP kills) but Blacklist seems to bring back the lifting move at least. Are there more that you guys saw in the demo?

3. That is the same case for me as point 1. I simply do not get it why they would take that out. I am sure somebody already mentioned that you cannot crouch-carry bodies in another thread on here...This just seems like a no-brainer-decision to me. Seriously would it be that hard to just do one more animation? I guess it is....since there are already so many different melee kill/knockout animations....like everyone was screaming for that to be in here. It just feels like a stupid limitation that just breaks believability of the game's otherwise mostly nice overall presentation/look. Especially if you wanna HIDE a body if other enemies are around who could spot you if you go around standing up while carrying a body. "Sorry guys I can only hide bodies while I am not crouching, feel free to shoot me, thanks!" - Fisher

4. Not 100% sure about that, yet. Yes I saw the light deactivation in the abilities trailer, too. But was that and EMP-bolt from the crossbow or something else? I am not sure about that yet. Maybe someone could clear that up, if it is already known. If you have no tool like that it would be no game-breaking thing but I really loved it in CT and I feel by taking that out it just feels like a toned down version of SC in yet another gameplay mechanic. This alone is certainly not that bad. But with my previous concerns, it all adds up and then it matters, for me at least.

Sorry for the lenghty post, may sound a bit depressing and pessimistic but I have seen so many games gone to **** and I really don't want SC to become another ruined franchise. To be clear, I did have my fun with Conviction, but did not enjoy it near as much as Chaos Theory. I feel Blacklist could bring the old feel back like the good old times but I am not completely hooked yet, because of the mentioned things.

Thanks in advance for reading this whole thing, if anyone does. Please feel free to comment and correct me if I declared something wrong. I don't want my post to get lost in the other chatter on here :)

Cheers Philipp
