A feature I've always loved was the ability to use the modifiers (SHIFT, ALT, CTRL) in tandem with keyboard buttons to assign different functionality.
The means you could assign a separate function to:
R
SHIFT + R
CTRL + R
ALT + R
In effect, this quadruples the amount of function you can reach easily from your hand's resting position on a keyboard. I find that as I have to move out towards the TGB line, my chances of hitting the wrong key increase. Much more so when my hand has to completely leave resting position.
You would have the ability to set a key as a modifier. For example, if you use SHIFT for Push to Talk Comms or to Sprint, you can just have that function assigned to SHIFT, and not use it as a modifier.
